Vision An accounting internship at Schaefer Advertising will be a one of a kind experience. The unique culture of agency life sets the tone for a warm and welcoming work environment. Through an internship at Schaefer, you will be able to gain practical experience, as well as, hands-on training and coaching. Working in the accounting department at Schaefer, you will have exposure to processes from job set up to client billing and vendor payments, as well as reconciling general ledger accounts and seeing the end results of a job including job profitability. If you are a self-motivated, hard worker with excellent communication skills and possess extremely high standards of accountability and trustworthiness, then we would love to hear from you. The paid internship begins in late May and will last for approximately 10-13 weeks. We require 25-30 hours per week at a minimum of 4 days in the office per week. We welcome the opportunity to apply your time with us towards university credit. What should you expect? Not all internships are created equal. At Schaefer Advertising, our interns get the opportunity to work on real client projects, gain real-world knowledge and be mentored by some of the industrys best. Our goal is to help provide our interns with an immersive agency experience that will help them build a foundation as they get ready to enter their first accounting job. And if youre a rockstar and the stars align, that first accounting job could be on the Schaefer team. What do we expect out of you? Long gone are the days of interns fetching coffee or just taking meeting recap notes. Our expectation is for you to be an active member of our team. That means you will be asked to own projects, have a point-of-view, meet deadlines and join in on all of the nitty-gritty of our day-to-day work. COVID-19 Disclaimer Due to COVID-19, we are in a fluid situation. We believe being able to work in the office is important to the success of the intern. Additionally, at Schaefer, the safety and well-being of all our employees, including interns, is of utmost importance. As such, it is possible that we may need to modify or even cancel internships based on the outcomes of the Covid-19 pandemic. And, while not optimal, it is possible that all or a part of your internship will be working remotely. Accounting Intern: The Accounting Intern will be exposed to various areas of the monthly accounting cycle including but not limited to the following responsibilities: --- Reconciling general ledger accounts--- Preparing client invoices using agency software (Function Point)--- Assist with Revenue Forecasting spreadsheets--- Provide assistance to accountants and Controller with month end closing procedures--- Work professionally and harmoniously with team and coworkers--- Other projects and duties as assigned Requirements: --- Candidate is working towards a Bachelors Degree or Masters degree in Accounting--- 2nd semester Junior or beyond, post-grad candidates welcome--- Must be available to work 25-30 hours per week at a minimum of four days per week in the office for 10-13 weeks--- Accounting GPA 3.25 or higher--- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; excellent Excel skills--- Good communication and documentation skills and excellent attention to detail--- Experience in QuickBooks preferred but not necessary--- Professional business image and excellent command of the English language, both verbally and in writing (spelling, grammar, and punctuation) We're Schaefer Ad.
