Job Description:

Title:Billing SpecialistCoordinates Perioperative electronic billing in Meditech and other indicated programs. Facilitates charge entry into the system after comprehensive audit of the operative case/procedure. Sustains required data entry completion to facilitate judicious passage of billing data to B/AR. Meticulously audits operative/procedural report for comprehensive precision in billing accountability / integrity. Identifies and reports trends to the Business Operations Manager regarding any issue within the billing structure. Analyzes assigned reports to ensure effective daily and specialized charging processes. Provides timely, accurate, and complete billing entry with follow up to ensure business operational effectiveness and efficiency. Builds and maintains multiple dictionaries within Meditech and Lawson to provide accurate information regarding time charge rules, new procedures, addition of staff / physicians, Customer defined dictionary, operation severity ratings, B/AR procedure dictionary, and aliases. Edits and creates implant items including addition of HCPCS codes. Education & Experience:High School graduate, college course work and / or additional business focused courses desirable. Minimum 3 years' experience in clinical environment.Minimum 3 years' experience in related field.Knowledge of medical terminology and patient accounting processes. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Meditech or similar enterprise hospital software.Computer skills and computer terminology.Touch typing Office skills in the area of correspondence, communication, and organization.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to operate various office machines i.e. copiers, fax, printers, voice mail, and e-mail.Demonstrated effective teamwork, courtesy and customer orientation.Demonstrates commitment to high standards of patient care, patient privacy, and other customer relations practice.Able to work with minimal direction and apply similar concepts to solve complex problems related to functional daily tasks.
