Position Title: Secondary Math Teacher
Reports to: Campus Principal
Department: Math
Position Category : Permanent/exempt/full-time/10 month contract

Position Summary: The Secondary Math Teacher is responsible for providing the highest quality classroom instruction in the area of secondary math for students in grades 7 - 12. FWAFA teachers provide students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that will enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. In collaboration with other faculty and administration, the Teacher will support the School's mission through curriculum development and instruction in alignment with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the standards required for Advanced Placement coursework.

Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide daily instruction for high school math classes
Create and implement effective lesson plans that promote the highest levels of academic scholarship, problem solving, and creative expression
Endeavor to create a learning environment that integrates students' artistic abilities with their academic studies
Collaborate with other faculty to create curriculum, develop student relationships and prepare students for further training in academic/artistic settings
Attend staff meetings and professional development workshops, as required
Create and maintain positive communication with administration, staff, faculty, students, and parents

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: - Computer and peripherals; Google Applications
Posture: -Standing, infrequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: -Frequent walking
Lifting: -Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)
Environment: -Work is located on campus site in a classroom environment; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: - Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification:
Bachelor's degree required with a concentration in Math; Master's degree preferred
Teacher certification or highly qualified designation required
Minimum three years' experience teaching high school math preferred

Skills and Capabilities:
Strong classroom management skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
Excellent verbal and written communication
Proven experience collaborating with others to develop interdisciplinary academic products/classroom activities
