Our Opportunity: The Enterprise Backup organization manages all distributed backup infrastructure for the company including design, engineering, implementation and ongoing support. The group works very closely with server, data center, application and database teams to provide backup solutions for all of Charles Schwab. It resides in the Technical Infrastructure Solutions and is a key component of the infrastructure helping our customers become financially fit. This open opportunity is for the Enterprise Backup organization. What you'll do: The Distributed Backup Engineer is responsible for performing Enterprise backup Engineering & Administrator duties including backup storage configuration, backup software management/configuration, and full administration of add/remove/manage/monitor backup jobs on a daily basis. Must have experience with backup software from various vendors (Commvault, TSM) and at least one of the major backup hardware vendors (IBM, DataDomain, Oracle ZFS). The engineer will work with database, application and server teams to analyze performance and backup requirements and provide solutions that are highly available and perform to meet the business requirements. What you have: Solid understanding of end to end backup connectivity for a minimum of one Open Systems Operating system (Linux, Microsoft, AIX etc). Proficient in i/o performance and connectivity troubleshooting from the backup system to host to the array/backup device. Must have experience with set-up, configuration and troubleshooting of host based multipathing technologies. Working knowledge of set-up, configuration and troubleshooting of host based volume managers. Ability to manage multiple vendor technologies at the same time. Exposure to database, host and virtual system backup solutions required.
