Job Description:

Position Purpose:Assists Branch Manager manage branch operations to meet goals and objectives for branch sales, profitability, and customer perception in the local market.Reporting Relationship:-- This position reports to the Branch Manager-- The Counter Sales Associate and Warehouse Associate can report to the Assistant Branch Manager in the absence of the Branch Manager.Principal Duties & Responsibilities:Manages the Customer Experience1.0 Ensures customers receive prompt, professional service, in person and over the phone by establishing standards and monitoring quality on a daily basis. 2.0 Works directly with customers during busy times and with key customer accounts.3.0 Works in conjunction with Outside Sales to determine customer needs and implement and follow through on established programs. 4.0 Provides information regarding customer buying habits and needs to Outside Sales on a regular basis. 5.0 Performs outside sales calls as necessary.6.0 Develops relationships and rapport with customers to establish win-win partnerships. Strives to know names of principals of all customers.7.0 Maintains the highest standards in cleanliness and appearance of the showroom, warehouse and exterior of the facility. 8.0 Ensures showroom merchandising and appearance contribute to sales goals.9.0 Resolves customer complaints and disputes in a timely, professional manner that balances customer requests with business needs.Manages the Branch Team1.0 Communicates and models performance expectations of all branch team members. 2.0 Ensures expectations are met by monitoring reports, gathering feedback from customers, observing performance and taking corrective action or rewarding employees as necessary. 3.0 Performs informal coaching throughout the year.4.0 Ensures team members are up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding branch operations and the company as a whole.5.0 Ensures team members have the knowledge and skills needed to perform their jobs by providing regular training.6.0 Provides learning opportunities to develop employees for promotion opportunities.7.0 Ensures adequate staffing levels to meet business needs by establishing working schedules and cross-training employees to fill in when needed.8.0 Provides a safe work environment by:--communicating safety rules, observing and coaching employees in complying with safety rules; removing safety obstacles; complying with all governmental regulations including OSHA, Worker's Compensation, Fire and MSDS; and ensuring all equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner including the training and certifications of employees designated to operate equipment.9.0 Ensures compliance at the branch level with all company employment policies, and applicable state and federal employment laws.Managing the Business1.0 Monitors performance against goals and take corrective action where necessary.2.0 Manages branch inventory to ensure security, accuracy.--Ensures cycle counting program is implemented per established procedures.3.0 Oversees product returns and warranty processing, balancing customer requests with company guidelines and procedures.4.0 Oversees warehouse and delivery operations, including receiving, labeling and put-away and order fulfillment.--Creates and monitors delivery schedules to ensure accurate, on-time delivery of product. 5.0 Ensures the security and proper maintenance of all branch property, equipment and other assets by developing security systems and procedures, and implementing a regular schedule of equipment maintenance.6.0 Controls branch operational costs, including labor, supplies, freight, utilities, etc to ensure overall branch profitability is met.7.0 Balances cash drawer daily and prepares daily bank deposit in absence of Branch Manager.8.0 Performs special projects as needed.9.0 Other duties as assigned.Johnstone Supply believes that each employee's contribution should not be limited by the assigned responsibilities.--Therefore, it is our expectation that each employee will offer his/her services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of our company goals.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.--The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.--Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; two years experience in branch operations management in a wholesale environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.--College business degree preferred.Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Leadership:-- Ability to lead by example and model expected employee behaviors-- Knowledge of management principles, including training and development, delegating and coaching employees.-- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of subordinates in absence of Branch Manager.-- Ability to listen to others to identify concerns and needs.-- Ability to communicate with others in order to influence attitudes and actions.-- Skill in facilitating open lines of communication.Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Business:-- Knowledge of wholesale distribution branch operations, including order fulfillment, inventory control, customer service, showroom merchandising, shipping and receiving and sales.-- Ability to provide consistent, quality customer service-- Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel).-- Knowledge of showroom merchandising techniques to drive sales.-- Ability to use company computer systems in daily branch operations.-- General knowledge of inventory management principles and procedures, including procurement, storage, forecasting and handling dead inventory.-- General knowledge of sales and marketing processes and techniques to drive sales.-- General knowledge of the HVAC/R industry, contractor customer needs and product applications.-- Knowledge of governmental regulations as applied to product distribution, including OSHA regulations, Worker's Compensation, Hazardous Materials Handling.Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Personal Effectiveness:-- Problem-solving skills:--listening to, interpreting, and meeting the needs of others;
