Managed Investing is a part of the Schwab Asset Management
Technology Organization. Our team delivers and supports Managed
Investing applications and products used by Schwab Representatives
and our Clients as they plan for their financial futures and manage

organization owns the strategy, implementation, delivery, and
support of some of the applications supporting Schwab private
clients.As a seasoned, hands-on Sr. Manager of Software Development
Engineering, you will manage a Managed Investing Software
Engineering delivery team and enable Schwab Asset Management to
achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by
implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks,
and oversight in the areas of software development and testing.
You'll serve as a strong and versatile hands-on technical leader.
You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business
objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing
environment.What you haveManagement
Experience successfully driving technology change initiatives in an
organization, especially related to data initiatives like data
fabric, data integration, metadata models
Experience hiring exceptional technology staff with ability to
coach, manage and grow staff
Skilled at tactfully communicating sensitive information
Handles difficult personnel situations directly, using appropriate
discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual
Evokes creative and innovative thinking from team members while
helping them to bring their ideas and career plans to fruition
Helps to determine new, creative ways to employ teams on projects
and distribute responsibilities
Assesses training needs and selects training tools for team
members
Ability to manage budgets
A visible leader that yearns for developing and motivating the next
technology leaders
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across multiple time
zones and locations
Experience in planning, implementation, and support of business
application components
Ability to drive through, directly and through influence, efficient
solution strategy, with agility and leadership skills which
engineers recognize and respect.

Technical
A university degree from a well-respected academic institution;
advanced degrees in Information management, Computer Science,
and/or other professional certifications are a plus
12+ years of experience in Software development and management
roles
5+ years of experience with running development and testing for
large to extra-large complex projects with multiple
dependencies.
Experience designing and building large Cloud-ready highly scalable
software particularly distributed, strong knowledge of integration
design patterns and experience in working on large scale
integration projects ideally including data fabrics or
equivalent
Experience in creating engineering best practices related to
software development
Ability to see the big picture but also able to navigate the
details.
Prior wealth management experience or financial experience is a
must
Experience designing and building large Cloud-ready highly scalable
software particularly distributed, strong knowledge of integration
design patterns and experience in working on large scale
integration projects ideally including data fabrics or
equivalent
Desirable
Proven record of delivering technology solutions within agreed upon
timeframes
Experience with regulatory and compliance solution and information
security
Ability to forge relationships and become a trusted advisor with
personnel of various levels and responsibilities, from business
partners to technology partners, to software engineers
Demonstrated ability to define, drive, and communicate strategy and
vision and influence across the organization is essential
Ability to inspire and influence teams effectively and partner in
delivering technology-enabled business solutions that exceed
business expectations
Hands-on coding experience in Java or any other OOP language, REST
based APIs, messaging and streaming technologies desirable.
Hands-on experience with Web services virtualization, mocking, and
stubbing
Experience with Jenkins, Bamboo, GIT, Bit bucket, etc.
Understanding and implementation of CI/CD/Dev Ops practices, lean
methodologies
Experience with Agile and SWAT/Kanban development practices
Proven experience as a leader/trainer in a large, complex
development organization, with a demonstrated ability to implement
scalable solutions
Experience working with resources in different geographical
locations and offshore vendors
Experience fostering an innovation culture and a thirst for
technology innovation
Experience implementing a DevOps culture and environment
Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to
detail and the ability to design, execute and maintain strategic
goals and metrics.
Easily recognizes areas for internal improvement and develops plans
for implementation.
Identify gaps/risks early and establish mitigation plans (both
technically & with regards to resources)
Colorado Compensation Target Total Compensation: 110,000 - 242,000
