Job Description:
The Data Engineering # Analytics Platform (DEAP) Manager is
responsible for the overall delivery and success of the analytics
data platforms and related technologies at Cook Children#s to
ensure that analytics solutions drive business value and support
data-driven decision making.# This role is responsible for data
engineering and the analytics data environments, including:
building and maintaining data platforms (data ingestion, data
transformation, data lake, data warehouse), supporting and
enhancing existing data resources, implementing new technology and
tooling to accelerate analytics capabilities, and driving scalable
solutions and data sharing practices. The Manager splits time
between hands-on design/architecture, development and managerial
activities, while overseeing the development of new practices and
processes to enhance the business intelligence and data science
capabilities at Cook Children#s. The Manager will collaborate with
BI developers, data analysts, data scientists, application
architects/analysts, and business stakeholders on technology
decisions and solutions, both on-prem and cloud, to ensure the
analytics platform and solutions are scalable, reliable and secure.
The Manager will partner with the Business Intelligence Director
and other BI Managers to support data governance and promote
analytics solutions that aligns capabilities with system strategic
goals and initiatives. The Manager has excellent communication
skills, proven experience designing and implementing data/analytics
platforms and solutions, experience with project management, and a
successful track record of building and leading data
engineering/data warehousing functions and teams. The Manager will
be a motivated self-starter, be comfortable working in a fast paced
environment and possess an innate drive to deliver results and
business value. The Manager is responsible for the daily team
operations, staff management, as well as resource and capacity
management. Qualifications: Bachelor#s degree in Management
Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Business or
related/relevant field required. Minimum of 8 years of experience
in information technology required. Minimum of 3 years in a
management, supervisory or lead position required. Minimum of 5
years of experience in a healthcare, provider and/or managed
care/insurance environment preferred. Experience overseeing the
design, development, and implementation of business data
engineering solutions and platforms. Minimum of 5 years of data
ingestion, data profiling and data engineering experience including
complex solution design and large-scale data transformation.
Minimum of 5 years of data lake and data warehouse experience
including: end to end data warehousing methodology,
design/modeling, architecture, implementation, security, and
support/maintenance. Knowledge of and experience with
implementation of cloud based technologies (Azure, AWS, etc).
Experience with cloud-based solutions (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) including
experience with forecasting usage and managing to budget.
Experience with cloud data lake/data warehouse technologies such as
Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, etc. Demonstrated strength
in SQL coding, data integration, data modeling, ETL/ELT
development. Experience with modern data ingestion and
transformation technologies such as Fivetran, Stitch, dbt, etc as
well as traditional data integration/management tools such as SSIS,
Informatica, etc. Experience with Agile, DevOps delivery
methodologies. Ability to represent foundational role of data
engineering in conjunction to all aspects of a data ecosystem,
including data governance, data quality, security, visualization
and analytics. Experience with Agile, DataOps delivery
methodologies. Experience with project management, its
methodologies and best practices. Proven experience with business
and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling,
verification and methodology development. Experience working
closely with vendors, reviewing contracts, and vendor management.
Coding proficiency in at least one modern programing language
(Python, Scala, Java, etc) preferred. Experience working with
healthcare specific applications and data systems (Electronic
Health Record, imaging systems, pharmacy systems, etc), business
systems (ERP, CRM, etc) and digital platforms preferred. Licensure,
Registration, and/or Certification: Epic certification(s) a plus,
and may be required upon hire or within six months of hire date.
Preferred Epic certification(s) include Cogito Systems
Administration, Caboodle-Clarity Development, Caboodle Development,
Clarity Data Model, Clinical Data Model, Revenue Cycle Data Model,
Access Data model, and/or Caboodle Data Model. Snowflake and/or
Microsoft certification(s) a plus. Other relevant data engineering
certification(s) a plus.
