Vice President of Operations Strategy & Design works closely with
FP&A and corporate strategy to align commercial and operational
initiatives. They provide leadership, direction, and long-term
vision to the Ops Strategy & Design department, working with the
EVP of Operations and other peers to align departments with
enterprise objectives. This role is strategic, modernizing
operations while maintaining our low-cost advantage in the airline
industry.Additional Details:
- Work from our Dallas, TX headquarters during business hours due
to the collaborative culture at Southwest Airlines.

- Collaborate with the EVP of Operations to develop and implement
strategic direction, ensuring alignment with organizational
objectives.
- Identify capabilities needed for future vision, balancing
long-term planning with immediate operational issues.
- Lead initiatives to modernize operations and support design and
implementation efforts.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through policy and process
improvements.
- Manage projects across operational groups, ensuring alignment
and communication.
- Transform performance analytics to provide strategic insights
for leadership.
- Serve as the Safety and Security Management representative for
the OS&D department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong influence and leadership across the organization.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and solve complex
problems.
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation to
executive levels.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Change leadership and servant leadership mentality.
- Flexibility in working hours and availability for
emergencies.
- Understanding of operational processes and analysis
techniques.Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.Experience:
- Experience leading teams, directly or indirectly.
- Advanced business acumen.
- Preferred: Project, portfolio, strategy, analytics experience,
and data storytelling.Licensing/Certification:N/APhysical
Abilities:
- Work from a desk or office for extended periods.
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Use computer and office tools proficiently.Other
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Meet U.S. work authorization requirements.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Adhere to attendance and confidentiality standards.
- Travel may be required, including overnight stays.
