The program director is an academically qualified, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who meets state and national standards for license and certification. The individual in this leadership role has responsibility and authority for program structure, functions, practices, budget, and clinical oversight such that the program adheres to accreditation and other regulatory standards. The program director ensures that curricular and program requirements are established according to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools(SACS) and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) standards and policies and that operations are standardized to ensure comparable educational outcomes are met across graduate programs. The program director ensures active engagement of all faculty in program recruitment, curricular development, course and program goal attainment, student engagement, and cohesive program functioning. Reports to the Dean for School of Health Professions. Essential Responsibilities Leadership and Administration Provides leadership in the selection of qualified faculty for identified programs by serving on or delegating search committees and assisting with recruitment functions Establishes program norms that meet Accrediting Standards and adheres to the effective standardization of the program within the SOHP Participates in the budgeting process, policy and procedure development, clinical site selection, course and program evaluation Uses course and program evaluation results for continuous and systematic program improvement Maintains responsibility for ongoing development and regular evaluation of faculty Maintains responsibility for program administration, including faculty workload assignments and course scheduling in consultation with assistant program directors, associate deans, and deans. Engages faculty in activities related to recruitment, admission, and progression of students Functions as an active member of an Integrated Learning Community and advises and ensures that faculty within the program are also engaged Functions as an active member of the University admission and marketing team. Ensures that the programs are appropriately described in the university marketing strategic plan Engages external and internal stakeholders in a manner to expand the program reach, advances the school's reputation, secures funding, and meets emerging clinical needs Serves on both school and university committees for accreditation, service, and other functions Curriculum Advancement Builds curriculum from a foundation of core graduate courses that scaffold into increasing depth and breadth of clinical functioning Ensures, through active practice engagement, that emerging and current knowledge and clinical practices are addressed in the curriculum Ensures that professional formation occurs among program students. Ensures and is involved in annual review of the program by trainees Oversees student advising is conducted in accordance with SOHP academic policies Academic and Community Service Maintains a network of national, regional, and local professional contacts that informs the direction and functioning of the program Serves on select committees and seeks consultative and scholarly opportunities to advance and disseminate knowledge in specialty area and that enhances the program's reputation Advances self through self-evaluation processes to maximum areas of personal and professional development YourMembership.
