Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for
providing speech/language services in the assessment, evaluation
and development of treatment and therapy plans for children with
limited communication skills; provides direct and consultative
services to groups and individuals in practices and procedures
associated with enhancing/improving functional communication
skills; utilizes a variety of modalities including but not limited
to oral, picture, signing and augmented communication
systems.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Serves as a member of an
Interdisciplinary team. Provides treatment, guidance and
instruction to youth in individual & group settings. Assists a
youth in developing various communication skills so as to enhance
the person's ability to make his/her wants and needs known.2.
Assesses a youth's communication skills and develops a
communication plan of treatment to include short- and long-range
goals, methods to achieve those goals, anticipated outcomes and
projected frequency and duration of services needed to meet those
goals.3. Maintains detailed records on those youth served, to
include but not limited to the type of therapy/treatment provided
and evaluation of the results.4. Communicates and consults with
educational, residential, medical or others regarding the youth's
treatment progress.5. Recommends augmentative communication devices
and ensures staff/family are appropriately trained on the use of
side device.6. Provides guidance to staff, volunteers and families
in carrying out treatment plans; provides in-service training, and
direct hands on treatment as required in the treatment
plans.MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:1. Assumes responsibility as a mandated
reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of
individuals as outlined in the agency's policies and procedures.2.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably
within the scope of the duties enumerated above.WORKING
CONDITIONS:The work is divided between community-based travel to
schools, family homes or other entities and time within the TRH
office. The work does include significant usage of a motor vehicle.
The work may also require exposure to low to medium amounts of
noise in an indoor office environment, school, clinic or family
home environment. On occasion, the work may require flexible hours
outside of normal business hours.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:1.
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both written
and orally) in a professional manner, with all levels of
employees.2. The ability to supervise, mentor, and direct others in
a clinically or process-oriented manner.3. Possesses the ability to
lead others, inspire positive change and good customer service is
vital.TRAINING, ACADEMIC AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Master's
Degree from an approved school of hearing and speech/language
pathology, and possession of a Missouri licensure in audiology or
speech/language pathology.2. At least one year of clinical
experience as a Speech/Language Pathologist providing services to
children/youth with developmental disabilities.3. Possesses the
ability to train staff/families in the principles, practices and
procedures associated with speech therapy services for
children/youth.4. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and
software applications.5. Background clearance, physical and
drug/alcohol screening.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. The ability to
communicate clearly and effectively (both written and orally) in a
professional manner, with all levels of employees. Also, the
ability to interact and lead effectively on a multidisciplinary
team.2. Enhanced understanding of medical/clinical records,
consents and confidentiality3. Exceptional communication,
interpersonal, and analytical, problem solving skills4. Ability to
handle multiple complex tasks or assignments, consistently
producing high quality work5. Proficiency in the use of personal
computers and software applications6. Must pass a background
