Arlington Heights Animal Hospital is a well-established, AAHA accredited, 4-doctor veterinary clinic located in the heart of Fort Worth's cultural district! We are currently seeking a confident and compassionate FT Veterinary Technician to join our work family! Job Description: At Arlington Heights Animal Hospital, the veterinary technician is instrumental in the overall success of our practice. Supports the veterinarian during appointments, examinations, medical procedures, and anesthetic/surgery procedures. Ensure efficiency during patient care by reviewing patient charts and preparing all proper vaccinations, etc. Communicating with the client by collecting a detailed subjective and medical history as well as reviewing discharge papers and prescription/treatment plan instructions under the instruction of the veterinarian. Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol. Fill prescriptions according to our pharmacy protocol. Support veterinarians in procedures using accurate restraint; know how to restrain fractious patients, exotic patients, feline patients. Dispense treatments/medications intravenously, orally, and subcutaneously. Collecting samples and running in-house lab work such as heart worm tests, urine sediments, ear cytologies, and CBC's/organ function/ Zoetis HM5 and VS2 machine. Prep patient for anesthesia/surgery; monitor patients under anesthesia; induce anesthesia and intubate patient. Perform dental cleanings and dental radiography. Coordinate treatments and injections following the instructions of a doctor Maintain and input medical records in our PM software, VIA. Take digital radiographs with accurate positioning and techniques. Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration. Venipuncture and placing iv catheters. Complete anal gland expression, ear cleanings, and nail trims Preparing and maintaining patient ICU sheets and surgery sheets. Show excellent client communication and telephone skills as well as excellent written communication skills with proficient spelling. Thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment with awareness of overall picture at any given time. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year Veterinary Technician experience High school diploma or equivalent LVT or CVA highly preferred. Background check and drug screening required prior to employment Must be able to work all shifts, including rotated weekends & holidays.
