Job Description Summary Primary duties of adjunct faculty include
teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction
to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes
identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students
in and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates
and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities
of the courses assigned, be they face-to-face, hybrid, online, or
within the context of dual credit instruction. All faculty members
are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College
policies and procedures. The clinical faculty must participate in
instructing students during clinical experiences and evaluating
student achievement.
Clinical Instruction: supervise/instruct students at the Clinical
Sites once a week; performing venipuncture as needed. Maintain
documentation of student progress, grades, and other required
paperwork. Supervise students at Health Fairs, performing
venipuncture as needed. Didactic: Instruct students in the
classroom and student laboratory in phlebotomy and waived testing.
Required Education All faculty members must possess minimum
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards
for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or
degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic
degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
Clinical instructors must hold current certification in phlebotomy
or clinical laboratory science, or have one year of full time
phlebotomy experience.
Didactic faculty must hold an associate degree or higher, or 60
college credit
hours from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination
of
education and experience with a minimum of 30 college credit hours
and 3
years of relevant teaching experience. They must also have current
certification in phlebotomy or clinical laboratory science and
document continuing education hours (2.0 CEUs or 20 hours) in
phlebotomy, clinical laboratory science, and/or education
(including computer applications) within the previous two years.
Both clinical and didactic instructors must hold an appropriate
nationally recognized certification such as the ASCP . Required
Experience One year of full time phlebotomy experience for clinical
instruction. For didactic instruction, a minimum of two years
experience in a clinical laboratory is required. Preferred

a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom
and/or laboratory; ability to communicate effectively with
students, college personnel and administration, peers and public
groups; ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and
justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color,
religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic
information, sexual orientation or gender identity; ability to
exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use
of College time and resources; and, ability to observe the stated
