Nurse (RN) Infusion is responsible for the delivery of quality
patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing,
planning, implementation and evaluation. This job is responsible
for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based
on established clinical nursing practice standards. Typical
Duties:
- Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of
infection, contamination, harm, or injury. Maintains safe and clean
working environment ensuring compliance with procedure rules and
regulations.
- Delivers nursing care to assigned group of patients including
education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, treatment
planning, pain management and discharge planning utilizing the
nursing process for Oncology patients being particularly observant
for side effects of chemotherapy and other infusion therapies.
- Performs complete assessment of patient and other various
duties and direct care with regard to age and developmental stage,
presenting complaint, pertinent history and knowledge of infusion
guidelines for chemotherapy and other infusion therapies including
their side effects.
- Provides and coordinates patient care, educates patients and
public about various health conditions, and provide advice and
emotional support to patients and family members.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by using multi-disciplinary
team strategies.
- Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment
malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
- Serves as an expert leader by precepting and mentoring RN I, RN
II, and students.
- Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records and directs
care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting
complaint, and pertinent history.
- Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients'
responses. Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in
patients' conditions.
- Delivers quality nursing care including accessing and
maintaining Port/Picc central lines while minimizing the risk of
infection, contamination, harm or injury.
- Responsible for the administration of medications,
documentation of medication administration, and assessment of
response to medications.
- Interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to assist the
attending provider in identifying and assessing patients
conditions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:
- Required Education and
Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or
university.
- 3 plus years of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse.
OR
- Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or
university and successful completion of a BSN program from an
accredited college or university within 2 years from the date of
hire.
- 3 plus years of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State
of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of
Texas and another state.
- Completion of unit specific competency based orientation
program within 90 days.
- Completion of professional practice requirements of RN III
annually with supporting documentation (separate document).
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
and must be maintained throughout employment. Preferred
Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Specialty Certification in
