    Here is what you can expect from being a Trauma PI Coordinator with us:

    This position Collaborates closely with Trauma Program leadership to ensure compliance with the State of Texas Trauma Statutes and the American College of Surgeons standards related to trauma performance improvement.-- The Coordinator also assists the Director of Trauma Services with injury prevention activities and programs for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, as well as for providing trauma-related educational programs to the nurses of the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Ortho/Surgical/Trauma Unit, and other applicable departments.

    Activities/functions include coordination and facilitation of the Trauma Performance Improvement Program. Must be comfortable with both interpreting the clinical care provided to trauma patients and be comfortable with advanced computing and database administration. This encompasses all areas and disciplines of the hospital that participates in the care of the admitted injured patients.-- Assists with coordination and facilitation of performance improvement data collection, analysis, trending and benchmarking of data and outcomes.-- Also participates in Trauma Registry data collection and completes data collection for input into the Trauma Registry.

    This position acts as a resource to the Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Nurse Coordinators, Trauma Medical Director, trauma surgeons, and hospital administration for analyzing and reporting registry data and performance improvement trends.

    In consultation with the Trauma Program Manager, the Trauma PI Coordinator is responsible for documenting the Quality Improvement activities in a manner that is commensurate with recommendations by all licensing and regulating bodies, assisting with Trauma Committee work, and the development of opportunities to communicate trauma department activities to others.-- Must possess a broad range of skills including communication, leadership, critical thinking, and trauma clinical patient care skills.

    Licensure/Certification/Registration:--

    --


    • Current RN licensure by the State of Texas or from a compact state if you declare the compact state your primary state of residence.
    • AHA or ARC Healthcare provider BLS and ACLS required
    • TNCC required within 12 months of hire/transfer.
    • Effective 12/01/2017: Complete the Society of Trauma Nurses Course "TOPIC" (Trauma Outcomes Performance Improvement Course) within 12 months of hire or transfer.
    • ENPC preferred.

      Education and Experience:


      • Bachelor's degree.
      • Four or more years of experience in a Level I or Level II trauma program verified by the American College of Surgeons.
      • Trauma Registry experience required. Two to three years of nursing experience critical care, and/or an emergency department, with increasing responsibility and interest in trauma care.
      • Previous supervisory leadership and teaching experience helpful.--
      • Experience in performance improvement required.------------------------------------------------------

        Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:--


        • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite compliment of programs
        • Experience with Digital Innovation (DI) Trauma Registry helpful
        • Excellent computer skills necessary to manage and manipulate a large database
        • Knowledge of the surgical and trauma patient care environments
        • Proficiency in the review and abstraction of clinical patient information from a medical record
        • Mathematical ability necessary to validate and analyze data
        • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with physicians, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.--
        • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in either written or verbal formats
        • Keen analytical and critical thinking skills to review patient care cases for performance improvement and quality assurance to facilitate the enhancement of patient care as well as recognize outstanding clinical achievements by team members
        • Ability to hold in confidence any information regarding patients, personnel, or any other confidential matters.
