City Weatherford!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Trauma
Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator works with trauma program
leadership to coordinate all aspects of the department's
Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program. The PI
Coordinator will review the continuum of care to determine
compliance with practice management guidelines, policies and
procedures, and established standards of care.What you will do in
this role:
- Maintain knowledge of the trauma care standards as per TX DSHS,
ACS and HCA.
- Serve as a member of the Trauma Performance Improvement Patient
Safety Committee and other committees as directed by the Trauma
Program Coordinator (TPC), Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and/or the
Vice President of Quality (VPQ)
- Accurately abstracts data from the patient hospital and
associated records according to established guidelines of the
trauma registry.
- Performs prospective and retrospective medical record reviews
utilizing clinical expertise to aggregate, assess, and interpret
information in order to evaluate the quality of clinical care,
utilization of appropriate services, and adherence to facility,
regional, state, and nationally established standards/guidelines;
tracks patients through the hospital stay through daily rounding
activities and monitors for outcomes and opportunities for
improvement via issue identification, validation, analysis and
follow-up with event resolution to help improve clinical outcomes
and patient care.
- Prepares case review summaries for secondary and tertiary
levels of review when events are identified in collaboration with
the TPC and TMD; completes agendas, minutes, keeps performance
improvement activities/case reviews organized, submit data to
medical staffing when appropriate. Coordinates care to achieve
targeted outcomes through the use of evidence-based practice;
promote collaborative practice between departments.
- Enters patient specific performance improvement review data
into the trauma registry.
- Generates reports from the trauma registry to assist in
performance improvement and patient safety activities for patients,
family, staff and the community.
- Acts as a resource internally and in the community regarding
educating others about injury prevention.
- Work closely with Emergency Medical Services to assure optimal
continuity of care from pre-hospital to hospital.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. What
qualifications you will need:
- Registered Nurse currently licensed with the Texas State Board
of Nurse Examiners
- Minimum 2 years ED or trauma experience
- Current TNCC
- Current BLS and ACLS
- PALS or ENPC within 12 months of hire
- Complete a course designed for responsibilities of PI program,
such as TOPIC, within 12 months of hire.
- Prefer supervisory experience
- ASN is required. BSN is required within 36 months of hire. This
role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on
local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical
or religious exemption is approved).Medical City Weatherford is a
