team member. Mother Baby Patient Population: Postpartum and Normal
Newborn Patient Ratios: 1:3 Couplets (typically could have a mix of
6 patients, i.e. 4 moms, 2 babies) Number of Beds: 50 beds
Department Specifics: Largest number of deliveries in Tarrant
County and growing, Maternal Designation Level IV, Magnet, Texas
Ten Step, cross train to NICU low risk and GYN, 150 staff which
includes Nurses, Tech, Health Unit Coordinators, Lactation
Consultants, and Family Resource. Shift: Full Time Nights; 7p-7a
Experience Required: 1 year of recent Mother/Baby experience Baylor

hospital in Fort Worth, Andrews Women’s Hospital delivers almost
6,000 babies annually – more than any other facility in Tarrant
County and in the Baylor Scott & White Health System. Andrew’s
Women’s Hospital offers a variety of labor and delivery services,
including maternity, high-risk pregnancy care, a level III neonatal
intensive care unit among others. Our 63 – bed neonatal intensive
care unit (NICU) is designed to care for the tiniest infants
dealing with the most serious medical challenges. It is one of the
largest NICUs in North Texas with a highly skilled team of
neonatologists on our medical staff, neonatal nurse practitioners,
respiratory and occupational therapists, dietitians, pharmacists,
social workers, chaplains, and registered nurses working together
to care you your whole family. Andrew’s Women’s Hospital has
recently been designated as a Level IV maternal care center, the
top designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
A Level IV designation is awarded to hospitals that proved the
highest possible comprehensive care and underscores the facility’s
ability to treat even the most complex cases. Today, Baylor Scott &
White Fort Worth employs 2400 team members, 1400 physicians and is
designated by US News & World Report as one of the best regional
hospitals in DFW. JOB SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) is a
licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional
practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health
care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient,
identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems,
develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and
evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for
their patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the
healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the
healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or
delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel
based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition
and the competencies of the employee. RN job is to be used for RNs
in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24X7 staffing
which include those departments with on-call staffing on the off
shifts. Examples of hospital inpatient and outpatient procedural
areas: GI Lab, Pain Management, Dialysis, Infusion Centers and IV
Services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Clinical Judgment: Using
clinical reasoning, conducts accurate clinical assessments
according to practice standards. Identifies and prioritizes patient
and family needs. Develops, implements and evaluates the nursing
plan of care. Modifies plan to meet clinical outcomes. Clinical
Inquiry: Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of
nursing practice, including, but not limited to, nursing sensitive
indicators. Supports evidence-based practice changes through
research utilization and experiential learning. Participates in
quality/performance improvement initiatives. Caring Practices:
Creates a compassionate, supportive, safe and therapeutic
environment for patients, families and staff. Develops therapeutic
relationships with patient and family and maintains appropriate
boundaries. Manages both emotional and physical pain with the aim
of promoting comfort and healing and preventing unnecessary

incorporates a patient's and family's unique differences, such as
culture, spiritual beliefs, gender, race, ethnicity, lifestyle,

integrating appropriate education throughout the continuum of care
to help them participate and/or make informed decisions about their

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program - MAJOR
- Nursing Experience Required: 1 year of recent Mother/Baby
experience - CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Registered Nurse
(RN) Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or
transfer.
