A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with Stepdown experience to provide exceptional patient care on a Surgical Trauma Stepdown unit. This contract position is based in Fort Worth, TX, at a Level 2 trauma center known for delivering cutting-edge care and welcoming diverse clinical experiences. Position Highlights: Unit: Surgical Trauma Stepdown (25 beds) Staffing: 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, 3 techs per day shift Patient Ratios: 1:4 (max 1:5 for stepdown) EMR System: Meditech Schedule: Day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM No on-call or floating beyond stepdown service lines Core Responsibilities: Provide acute care for trauma, bariatric, vascular, orthopedic, neuro/spine, and general surgery patients Manage patients post-operatively and those with complex medical diagnoses such as CVA, TIA, seizures, sepsis, cardiac events, and respiratory distress Administer and monitor intravenous drips including heparin, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, and others Conduct frequent patient assessments and telemetry monitoring Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams ensuring optimal patient outcomes Required Qualifications: Current RN license with experience in stepdown or trauma units Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale Strong customer service and communication skills Adaptable team player able to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments Preferred Experience: Trauma or orthopedic nursing background Familiarity with Meditech EMR This contract role offers exposure to complex clinical cases in a level 2 trauma setting supported by an experienced team and advanced technology.
