The Military Departments may also extend the requirement for active bar membership to assignment of civilian attorneys within their respective DepartmentsOnly degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. Thus, the applicant must have 2 years of professional legal experience, acquired after being admitted to the bar, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding the provision of legal advice on and to prepare condemnation assemblies and litigation; identification of ownership of property being condemned and all interested parties; advising on the legal aspects of encroachments and provides the legal services to remedy encroachments including appropriate legal action; preparation of litigation reports for and coordinating with the Department of Justice (DOJ) in lawsuits and other cases for the acquisition of real estate in compliance with DOJ title standards.3.
