Fort Worth Country Day is looking for a passionate middle school educator to begin with the 2021 - 2022 school year. The Head of Middle School will lead an--inspired team of 40 middle school educators, will--work with its committed middle school parents and will guide its wonderful 350 learners through the incredibly important fifth through eighth - grade years.-- At FWCD, m iddle school is not a junior high school. It is not a post-graduate elementary school. The middle school at FWCD is a world unto itself, designed programmatically and physically for 10 through 14-year old students. The next Head of Middle School at FWCD will assume leadership of a fabulously devoted group of middle school educators. FWCD middle school teachers "have a little middle schooler in them," as their long-term division head likes to say. They appreciate the challenges and the joys of the incredibly important formative years in which they educate our students. Housed in both the original middle school building from the 1980s and a new wing from the 2010s, the Fort Worth Country Day m iddle s chool is a wonderful space and part of an overall 104-acre campus with 14 buildings and nearly 1,100 students.-- The Head of Middle School, who begins the role on July 1, 2021, will:--

• Be an eager collaborator, working not only with many colleagues in the middle school, but also serving as a member of the School's Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Head of School
• Be a gifted and tireless hirer, leader and furtherer of teachers
• Be devoted to maximizing the student experience in the m iddle s chool at FWCD, including their academic, artistic and athletic/ physical development
• Be experienced and adept at building and sustaining the School-Parent Partnership
• Have a sense of true commitment to m iddle s chool students, teachers and parents
• Have a deep and thorough knowledge of best practices and pedagogies of the grade 5-8 learner, in the classroom and beyond
• Have a fundamental appreciation of the JK-12 environment
• Represent the m iddle s chool while working toward the overall best interests of FWCD
• Be collaborative and a consensus builder while fully embracing the decision-making-- responsibility of the Head of Middle School
• Be innovative in problem - solving and in program development
• Have comfort seeking input and applying constructive criticism
• Have a sense of humor
• Have a keen understanding of and commitment to furthering FWCD's Inclusivity Statement-- Qualifications:
  • Head of Middle School experience is preferred; first-time division leaders of unique potential will also be viable candidates
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Significant teaching and leading experience are preferable
