Accontability and Scope

The Strategic Contracts Manager is accountable for overseeing a group of sourcing/pricing specialists for all Wesco products, regarding long-term commercial and government contracts, involving a high level of complexity in customer specifications and regulatory requirements. This position requires excellent working-knowledge of FAR/DFAR, SBA, GSA websites and the Service Contract Act; a good understanding of indirect cost pools, forward sales projections and bid multiplier rate analysis; reliable sourcing relationships; and a strong ability to execute established sales strategies and initiatives.

The Strategic Contracts Manager will provide preliminary sales information based on current and projected market dynamics, market opportunities, knowledge of in-stock inventory costs, industry supplier sales trends and structures; and the use of internal analysis applications and tools. This role should create other value added services to Wesco outside of the daily work flow. This person should create new and better processes to to implement strategies that increase sales. Upon request, the Strategic Contracts Manager will perform research to validate sales quotations for accuracy and sustainability of profits throughout the life of the contract.

In addition, the Strategic Contracts Manager will be responsible for supervision of day-to-day pricing activities in support of LTA bidding opportunities. Increases team efficiency through standardization and improvement of procedures, and trains and mentors Strategic Contract Analysts in all levels. Organizes, executes and applies Wesco sales initiatives, policies and programs in support of business plans and strategic objectives to meet annual company and individual goal

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Know, understand and incorporate the Wesco philosophy, values, vision and strategic sourcing strategies in all business behavior, practice and decisions
  • Meet, develop and maintain a strong, beneficial working relationship with Wesco suppliers, gaining valuable market knowledge, as applicable
  • Work with Strategic Supply Chain team to develop product price strategies, including segment strategies for the various markets and channels
  • Coordinate proposal development with the Purchasing teams to process contract bids (with minimal guidance), utilizing internal sales analysis tools, applications and strategies, on a bid-by-bid basis
  • Work directly with internal/external customers on a regular basis, providing timely, appropriate and accurate responses to inquiries and requests
  • Monitor and track internal bid due dates and other bid requirements
  • Download, organize and review market resources, baseline price information and market trend data; to report inconsistencies and opportunities to optimize sales and profitability through adjusted sales strategies
  • Review inventory levels and/or source vendor for best sales
  • Prepare vendors Request For Quotation (RFQ's), as applicable to the sales process
  • Ensure adherence to customer approvals and quality requirements
  • Ensure market changes, affecting relevant sales information, flows down to sales blankets, base sales and current open orders, when applicable
  • Maintain files for proposals, awards, contracts, contract amendments and other related documents
  • Coordinate information as needed with sales, purchasing, quality, and other appropriate departments
  • Share expert knowledge in regard to suppliers, products, competition and/or markets
  • Participate in and practice continuous improvement and/or process improvement efforts
  • Actively pursue and develop a plan through the use of Intranet tools and programs, sales training programs, self-assessment tools, and relevant training courses, to increase knowledge and proficiency in all job requirements
  • Attend or participate in pricing or sales meetings, as requested; attend company-sponsored meetings, training or events, as required
  • Prepare and conduct employee performance appraisals
  • Monitor and approve time and attendance
  • Monitor and track bid due dates and other bid requirements
  • Develop and maintain a Market based pricing tool and process to drive profitable revenue growth and maximize margin growth.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level and/or business management qualification (EU)
  • Bachelor's degree or 10 years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Industry experience required
  • Management experience required In-depth knowledge of computer software, including MS Office

Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive expertise in Wesco products and contractual requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in pricing abilities, resulting in profitable long-term contracts
  • Strong, active supplier contacts and relationships with reliable (approved) Wesco suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize and offer process improvements for internal pricing systems and applications
  • Strong knowledge of Wesco's Corporate Pricing policies, procedures and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead and motivate less experienced team members to excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to present information or instruct in a professional and effective manner
