Job Description:

Design Group is hiring for a highly motivated and collaborative Estimator with industrial project estimating experience in the Food and Beverage industry.  Estimators play a critical role in our A/E “design build” and “design bid build” projects here at Design Group. Design Group requires estimating expertise to support business goals and project management from project inception through final construction completion. The Estimator starts at the concept phase in the early stages of design and develops detailed labor and material estimates as design approaches full-project definition. The Estimator utilizes his/her network of subcontractors and vendors when preparing construction proposals (T&M, Lump Sum, GMP, etc.). The Estimator will work closely with the project manager and will be asked to lead estimates.  Estimators will usually focus on construction and installation projects in their region however BWDG is a national firm and the estimator may also support other regions as workload dictates.  Ideal candidates will have industry experience relating to facility construction, utilities, process piping, material handling, controls and automation, and equipment installations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create and submit well organized, high quality written estimates that account for project risks
  • Prepare construction and installation estimates from feasibility studies, conceptual designs, preliminary designs, or detailed designs
  • Review all project plans, specifications, take-offs, I&C and documents to gain a full understanding of intended use of the estimate
  • Collaborate with the design team and offer cost effective alternates
  • Prepare cost estimates for small- and large-scale jobs
  • Manage project from estimating/bidding, detailing, product purchasing, delivery, scheduling, installation and construction administration
  • Calculate the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overhead and profit, and presenting a final price
  • Develop accurate labor and material costs with accurate quantity take-offs
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the design team, sub-contractors, sub-consultants, OEMs and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regional general contractors and end-users in multiple cities within the Central Region
  • Coordinate with Design Group construction teams as required to maintain current cost data

Requirements

  • 8+ years construction & installation cost estimating experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of estimating practices and procedures utilizing estimating software
  • Strong understanding of CSI Estimating Format
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand project schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects
  • Experience with constructing manufacturing projects in, Food & Beverage,
  • Read and understand construction, installation and I&C documents: details and drawings
  • Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (, Word, Outlook, Procore & Project)

Education

  • BS degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred, appropriate experience can substitute for degree
