Overview:SUMMARY The Hotline Interventionist is responsible for providing trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, information and referrals, safety planning, and emotional support to hotline callers seeking services at SafeHaven of Tarrant County. Responsible for assessing callers level of risk to determine eligibility for shelter admission or appropriate referrals. Maintains working relationships with community-based resources to enhance service delivery to all callers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following: Provides immediate response to Crisis Hotline callers using empathetic listening, risk assessment, safety planning, and education to provide appropriate client-centered interventions to address callers immediate needs.Maintains standards of conduct that are empowerment-based and nonjudgmental. Responds to all calls in a professional manner with a tone of calmness, sensitivity, empathy and nonjudgment.Completes all administrative tasks as assigned on a timely basis, this includes, but is not limited to; documenting all activities, preparing monthly activity reports, and updating the Client Relationship Management System (CRMS).Coordinates with Emergency Services staff on shelter availability, scheduling client arrivals and arranging special accommodations to prepare for callers approved for shelter. Works with Resident Advocates to review, update, and share resources, techniques, and tools to improve service delivery and coordination of services.Schedules or arranges transportation for incoming clients admitted to shelter.Establishes and maintains open, professional, and healthy lines of communication with all Emergency and Residential Services staff to communicate pertinent and appropriate client related information to support survivors.Maintains confidentiality of all communication regarding clients, agency and staff.Supports and contributes to a collaborative and respectful work culture that promotes cooperation and team work to achieve program goals and objectives.Maintains working knowledge of social services agencies and legal resources.Contributes to quality services and professional development by staying informed of trends in the area of intimate partner violence, trauma and victimization.Attends and participates in all staff meetings, trainings, conferences, and meets regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information regarding performance and development.Works a rotation schedule that includes two evening shifts per week.OTHER DUTIES In accordance with the team philosophy of the agency, may routinely be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed above.Must act in accordance with the agency's mission statement and goals.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo direct supervisory responsibilities. Assists in training interns and/or volunteers. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree in Social Work or related social services field preferred, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of crisis intervention, social work theory and ethics preferred. Experience in and knowledge of family violence theory preferred. One-year experience working in a social service environment preferred. Must have general computer proficiencyLANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, and interpret documents such as operating manuals and professional journals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and appropriate notes. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients. If hired as a bilingual provider, then all language skills must be as proficient in Spanish as English as demonstrated by testing if necessary.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Understanding of and ability to work with statistical data.REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current valid Texas driver's license required and client proof of auto liability insurance required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
