The Product Design Team is responsible for defining the end-to-end user experience of Modern Campus products. The Senior UI/UX Designer, currently the lead position on the design team, is expected to understand our business requirements and any technical limitations, as well as be responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into user stories, sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes all the way through visual designs for the product suite.

The Senior UI/UX Designer is an integral part of the Product Development team, reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer and works with other product and development team members to ensure that we successfully deliver new products and features to market that delight our customers and are in line with our corporate strategy.

How youll make an impact:

  • Advocating for the user on cross functional teams.
  • Taking a user-centered design approach, translating concepts into user stories, task flows, use cases, low and high-fidelity wireframes and functional documentation, etc, that lead to intuitive user experiences optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Providing visual design details, taking into consideration the interaction design direction, and adding the look and feel for brand identity consistent with company standards.
  • Own, in collaboration with product owners, the visual design and experience of the Modern Campus suite of products.
  • Writing initial copy and messaging for the product based on the audience we are reaching
  • Managing the interface design process, including optimizing and standardizing design elements and maintaining our design system.
  • Managing the continuing maintenance and improvement of feedback loops, enabling our customers to give frequent meaningful feedback about our product and designs.
  • Organizing beta testing initiatives to get early feedback from customers on upcoming releases
  • Performing regular research for continuous learning of emerging technologies, web and mobile design standards, and improvement in applicable tools.
  • Collaborating with other team members and stakeholders, taking part in Release Planning, Sprint Planning, Demos, Retrospectives, Daily Scrums, and other activities associated with our Agile development practices. Acting as the product owner or proxy product owner in when necessary.
  • Occasionally providing visual design for product related presentations, roadmaps, and other documentation
  • Occasionally building prototypes, click through demos, and product-related video materials as needed
  • Using effective writing, verbal, and presentation skills in composing written materials, responding to emails, and regular interaction to solve work related problems and concerns.
  • Travel as needed for conferences, speaking engagements, and design research.

    What youll need to succeed:
    • Expertise in standard UX software tools, such as Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, Zeplin, and Photoshop Illustrator
    • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
    • Experience with Design Systems desired.
    • Basic knowledge of web technologies and languages used in front-end development such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and similar
    • Experience designing to meet web accessibility guidelines
    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients for complex products and features
    • Experience working in an Agile team
    • Openness to receiving feedback and constructive criticism
    • Passion about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation, strong passion for delivering great customer experiences
    • Ability to manage/supervise others, and grow and retain design talent
    • 5+ years of UI/UX design experience for Saas based web and mobile solutions or front-end development or equivalent experience
    • Experience managing others in design/research
