Students Reports To: Campus Principal Primary Purpose: Assist the
school principal in regards to the maintenance of discipline and
attendance within the school. Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Master's degree; Texas principal or other
appropriate Texas certificate; Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation
and Support System (T-TESS)Successful teaching experience; Special
Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and explain materials
from professional journals and books, including school code and
legal documents Ability to make effective presentations Ability to
interpret and analyze data Ability to interact effectively with a
variety of audiences and individuals Knowledge and implementation
of best instructional practices Capacity to supervise others in a
fashion that leads to quality performance in a team atmosphere
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to coordinate and oversee campus behavioral supports
Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Monitor and ensure teachers,
staff and students comply to the student code of conduct such
as:All meetings with students and/or parents regarding student
discipline must be documented Parents must be contacted by the end
of the school day if a student is removed from class for more than
half a class period. Referrals for disciplinary infractions other
than dress code violations must be documented within 24 hours of
referral and action taken. Assists students in establishing high
standards of conduct by supporting the District multi-tiered
student support system. Properly addresses the improvement of
student attendance and disciplineAttendance Committee meetings must
be held by the conclusion of each semester to determine the status
of any student who has been absent more than the allowable number
of days. Provide written notice to a student's parent if the
student has been absent from school in accordance to District
policy and Texas Education Code. Properly addresses the improvement
of teacher attendance and discipline managementMonitor and ensure
teachers follow policies and procedures when they are absent.
Coordinates with other deans to ensure coverage at all school
events at which coverage is necessary. Confers with students and
parents on security matters Assists in developing and administering
practices dealing with campus control and security Monitor and
patrol the building and campus grounds Other job specific
responsibilities Encourage and support development of innovative
instructional programs, helping staff Facilitate, through the
professional growth of teacher and staff, improved student
performance as measured by the standardized tests, state
accountability and student achievement. Promote a positive, caring
climate for learning. Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from
diverse cultural backgrounds. Communicate effectively with
supervisors, parents, students and staff Help principal develop,
maintain, and use information systems to maintain and records to
track progress on campus performance objectives and academic
excellence indicators. Assist principal in interviewing, selecting,
and orienting new staff. Monitor, develop, and implement effective
records management practices. Compile, maintain and file all
reports, records, and other documents as required. Comply with
policies established by federal and state law, State Board of
Education, and the local board policy. Professional Growth and
Development Participate in professional development to improve
skills related to job assignment and remain current regarding best
instructional practices, district policy and initiatives, and
state/federal compliance. Articulate the school's mission to
community and solicit its support in realizing mission. Demonstrate
awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet
those needs. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage
community and parent involvement. Ensure effective communication
with parents and community members about school operations and
programs, including overseeing social media communication. Foster
collegiality among staff members. Encourage their active
involvement in decision-making process. Other duties as
assigned.
