Job Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for patient care
under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. Provides
patient education and assists with supervision of the Physical
Therapist Technician. Duties include following a treatment plan
established by the Physical Therapist and ensuring that all aspects
of the treatment plan are carried out concurrent with the medical
protocols.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Promotes and maintains
health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision
of a licensed Physical Therapist.2. Consults with physical
therapist and other health care members regarding patient progress,
issues, plans and therapy care.3. Completes thorough documentation
of each patient's visit in the electronic health record and ensures
encounters are closed within 24 hours in accordance with the
Center's established Health Information Management policies and
procedures.4. Reinforces teaching of home therapy program to
client/family/caregivers as directed by the licensed Physical
Therapist.5. Assists with supervising physical therapy technician
in direct patient care and related activities as requested by the
Physical Therapist.6. Provides excellent internal/external customer
service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist
patients with their health care needs.7. Maintains a working
relationship with community-based agencies in the best interest of
the patient and the Center.8. Participates in case conference
and/or in-service education, as requested9. Performs other related
duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or
equivalentCompletion of a Physical Therapist Assistant Associates
degree from an accredited schoolCurrent unrestricted Texas Physical
Therapist Assistant licenseMinimum one year experience as a
Physical Therapist AssistantAbility to assist with matching patient
needs to treatment plansAbility to communicate well with staff,
community, and patientsAbility to physically move live patients'
bodiesThorough knowledge of Physical Therapy Assistant principles
and practicesKnowledge of and sensitivity to cultural
diversityPreferred bilingual in English and SpanishCertified in
Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart AssociationScheduled hours
and/or work locations are subject to changeREQUIRED PHYSICAL AND
MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:Finger Dexterity: Using fingers
to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.
Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.Talking:
Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas
accurately, clearly, or quickly.Hearing: Able to hear average or
normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear
whispered voice atfive (5) feet.Repetitive Motions: Frequently and
regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.Visual: Visual
acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to
prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to
accurately view computer monitors.Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time
and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and
pull up to 45 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along
axial plane.EducationRequiredAssociates or better in Physical
