Mortgage Loan Officer

Job Description:

Summary Solicits, negotiates, underwrites and coordinates the closing of residential, construction and commercial mortgage loans in compliance with the Bank's policies, procedures and related laws and regulations. Serves as the customer's guide through the mortgage process and ensures all documents and procedures are completed within the required time frames by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

* Provides exceptional customer service by positive customer interaction and punctual responses to customer calls and inquiries.

* Maintains a thorough knowledge of all the products offered by the mortgage department.

* Effectively interviews the loan applicant to gather all of the essential information needed for application and educates the borrower on the steps of the mortgage process.

* Counsels the borrower regarding the best program for their particular needs.

* Ensures the integrity of the information submitted in the loan application process and completes all steps within the required time frame.

* Maintains contact with the applicant during the entire process to keep them updated and provides timely notice to borrower of any potential issues or additional information needed.

* Locks the loan with the investor while adhering to the investor guidelines to avoid having to pull the lock and ensures compliance with current loan program requirements.

* Communicates all disclosures per RESPA guidelines within the required time frame.

* Prices loans within mortgage department guidelines.

* Establishes community relationships by participating in Banking Center functions and supporting local organizations.

* Contacts borrower to inform them of the underwriting decision and to either deny the application or schedule the loan closing.

* Maintains consistent volume of mortgage loans in pipeline. Consistently cleans that pipeline of adverse applications that are not active or should be declined for other reasons as accepted by HMDA guidelines

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum two years mortgage lending experience.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use basic office machines. Ability to learn bank-specific software such as MPC, IBS, ADP, etc.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
