Objective / Purpose of Job The primary objective of the Supply Chain Leader is to direct the materials, planning and forecast functions to ensure customer needs are satisfied or exceeded. The Supply Chain Leader is responsible for planning and maintaining a material procurement process which establishes and achieves the least total cost, best quality and timely delivery for material purchases from local and overseas suppliers. In addition, they must supervise the supply chain team, purchase of production and/or non-production materials according to schedules or purchase requisitions and coordinate suppliers to meet Company's goals in regards to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and behavior. Establish and maintain positive employee relationships to ensure that employees are engaged, developed, and committed to providing a quality service to internal and external customers and suppliers. Roles and Responsibilities Support and mentor supply chain team to run effective production meetings with operations to optimize scheduled resources. Responsible to provide strong, visible, and effective input for optimizing all supply chain functions. Develop long-term strategic plans for supply chain operations enabling initiatives that meet the future needs of the organization while driving cost savings that are measurable. Establish standards for lead time and demand to ensure that the program procurement activities are aligned with warehousing and consumption, while remaining market competitive on delivery. Maintain monthly supply chain performance analysis and provide root cause corrective actions. Lead cross functional teams to develop a robust suite of reporting and planning tools such as dashboards and KPIs (key performance indicators). Monitor external environment and internal trends, practices and utilization to remain current with sourcing, planning, and forecasting procedures and systems. Lead inter-departmental task forces charged with improving supply chain velocity and process flow. Encourage innovation; seek out and implement best in class approaches. Handle escalations regarding inhouse and supplier: capacity, production, quality, and engineering issues in a timely manner to meet schedule. Forecast strategy for supplier's capacity based on the needs of the organization. Initiate and participate in LEAN activities with top spend key suppliers. Represent purchasing department in regard to internal or external audits. Oversee supplier development team while driving corrective actions and implementation of overall business strategy. Oversee supply chain team to optimize procurement, planning, and forecasting strategies. Manage production control to ensure proper balance of production resources are balanced and WIP (work in process) meets aging takt metrics. Lesion with operations to match machine, staff, and material to meet desired build plans. Drive S&OP process to create accurate build forecast to match supply with demand and load into ERP system on a monthly basis to drive proper MRP signals for supply activities. Manage PPV (purchase price variance) and WOV (work order variance) to ensure best source of supply is being optimized. Support and perform root cause analysis for OTD (on-time-delivery) metrics, while working with quality and engineering on vendor score card record keeping, as well as facilitating vendor onboarding and offboarding process. Will manage make, versus buy decisions based on capability and capacity analysis. Manage team's DOA (delegation of authority) approvals as needed. Will lead LEAN supply chain Kaizen events as set forth by leadership team. Be able to lead initiatives as set forth by the leadership team to work with cross functional teams such as Quality, Engineering, Accounting, Sales, Safety, and Operations to deliver a new process with SOPs (standard operating procedures) and functional customer and supplier flow upstream and downstream. Ensure ECNs (engineering change notices) are handle by supply chain team effectively. Seek out and attend all required training and developmental courses assigned for role. Ability to effectively work with individuals at all organizational levels. Other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering is required. Master's Degree is considered a plus. Willing and able to travel throughout the United States and to other countries as required. 10-15 years of experience in Purchasing, Materials Management, Production Planning, Supply Chain Analyst, or related field. 2-5 years of experience leading and managing teams Must be a change agent with the ability to influence others and lead organizational change efforts as needed. Must have extensive ERP and MRP system experience. APICS certification preferred. Must have proficient understanding of OTC (order to cash) supply chain flow. Background with LEAN methodologies highly preferred Six Sigma black belt or green belt preferred Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is required. VLOOKUPS, HLOOKUPS, graphs, formulas, if statements, scenarios, conditional selections, exporting, merging, sorts, filtering, and formatting. Able to give effective presentations to groups. Very strong negotiation skills are a must. Understanding of VMI (vendor managed inventory), KANBANs, and pull systems highly preferred. A deep understanding of Product class codes and ship class code preferred. Oversight experience of cycle counting programs. Experience in ISO 9001 2015 environments preferred. OEM manufacturing environment experience preferred. Must have experience with BOMs (bills of materials).
