Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Fleet Service Technician (SAFETY
SENSITIVE POSITION)REPORTS TO: Fleet SupervisorFLSA CLASS:
Non-Exempt DATE REVISED: February 1, 2018 SUMMARY: The Fleet
Service Technician serves as the checkpoint for incoming and
outgoing units, takes care of any fleet-related complaints
pertaining to the units being pre-tripped. Ensures a safe, reliable
unit for the oncoming crew. The Fleet Service Technician also helps
out in shop area when the pre-tripping of the fleet is completed or
while waiting on other units to come in. Assists in running minor
road calls in the absence of a Fleet Technician. SPECIAL NOTE: This
job has been designated as a Safety Sensitive Position by MedStar.
Public safety, as well as the safety of MedStar employees, requires
that the employee in this position be able to perform all essential
functions at the highest levels at all times. Therefore, this
position is subject to frequent drug testing and requires reporting
of all employee use of High Risk Medications identified by MedStar
and certification from the employees physician that such
medications can be safely used while working. Because MedStars
ability to deliver emergency medical response depends on having a
workforce that can be reliably scheduled, this job also requires
regular and reliable attendance. This is a high-stress job that
requires focus, engagement, and high performance in traumatic,
physically demanding, emotionally charged, and life-threatening
situations. The position involves exposure to serious and graphic
injury to adults and children, including death and dismemberment. A
high level of physical, mental, and emotional health is an
essential requirement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Routine pre-trip
inspections and log dailyMonthly under hood cleaningWeekly fleet
mileagesTire mounting/balancing, tire repairMaintain appropriate
physical and mental health required to perform the essential
functions of this job Regular and timely physical attendance during
assigned work hoursOn-call and overtime work required in
emergencies and at other times as directed or assigned ESSENTIAL

discretionary information JOB DUTIES:Clean and mop the shop, parts
room, and empty all trash cansClean and fuel shop vanStock incoming
inventoryFile repair ordersAssist Fleet Technician with mechanic
dutiesShuttling of fleet vehiclesAssist with minor road calls (jump
starts, tire service, accidents)Check all fluid levels, charging
system, exterior/interior lighting/lenses, tires, horn/siren, fuel
level/cap, doors, windows, handles, high idler, belts/hoses,
battery terminals, wipers, state inspection/registration on entire
fleetRecycling of scrap metals WORKING CONDITIONS:Exposed to
extreme climate conditions/loud noisesExposed to various extreme
temperatures and weather elementsWarehouse/garage environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Lift at least 80 lbs regularlyStand for long
periods of time; walkSit, climb, crawl, bend squat, twist, reach
push, pull, and carry Grasping and fine manipulation MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS:No experience requiredHigh school diploma or GED
equivalent Valid Texas drivers license Must not have been excluded
